LRC Guide

Borrowing books

On this page:

The LRC has thousands of books on the shelf for you to choose from. These have been specially selected by teachers and LRC staff to make sure we have a collection which is up to date, easy to access and relevant to your course.

All students are automatically registered borrowers, so you can take these books home to use in your favourite study space.

How to borrow

Bring yourself, your items and your College card to the Information Desk in the LRC. Our Learning Resource Assistants will scan your card and then the books, and will also stamp the return date just inside the front cover so you don't forget when you need to bring them back.

You can have up to 10 items on loan at once, and you can keep items for 3 weeks before you have to return or renew them.

Remember: Your College card is your personal College ID, please be aware that we cannot conduct transactions without it.

Renewing books

If you would like to keep your books for longer than 3 weeks you can renew each item twice. At the end of your second renewal you will have to return it to the LRC. If you still need the book, and no one has reserved it, the book will need to be on our shelf for 24 hours before you borrow it again; this allows other students to loan it if they wish.

There are 4 ways you can renew:

  • Send us a message on Teams
  • Call us on 01724 294164 (UCNL) 01724 294184 (NL LRC)
  • Email us at library@northlindsey.ac.uk
  • Visit us in person at the Information Desks at UCNL and NL LRC

Overdue fines

In order to be fair to all of our users we do fine students and staff who return borrowed materials late, as is important to give everyone the opportunity to use our resources by returning items on time. Remember, you can renew your books before the due date to avoid this happening.

If you don't return or renew your book by the due date, you will be fined 20p per day per book.
